Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bowl.
Rajasthan Royals (RR), following their defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League 2024, hope to turn things around against Royal Challengers Bengal (RCB) in Eliminator 1. RR made one switch – substituting Nandre Burger for Sandeep Sharma who was not 100% fit at that point – who can return later.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first in order to utilize their best bowlers. Royal Challengers openers Shimron Hetmyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal had endured an unimpressive start this season but both appeared in great form today by scoring fifties each.
Jaiswal chipped one straight to covers off Nandre Burger but otherwise appeared in good form, as he played an integral part in most RR runs as they chased down their target with four overs remaining. Jaiswal has really come into his own this season by taking responsibility and showing maturity at the top of their order.
Sanju Samson of RR was pleased with his team’s performance, particularly how the bowlers put themselves into good positions. He noted how this win gives his side confidence as they look towards the rest of the tournament, particularly by how young people have taken responsibility and finished games successfully.
