Mahipal Lomror (33 not out)
Mahipal Lomror has been an unexpected stand-out performer for Royal Challengers Bangalore so far this season. The left-handed batsman/left arm spin bowler has made an immediate impactful substitute appearance in both of their matches so far, scoring some crucial cameos. Unfortunately for Lomror though, skipper Faf du Plessis has decided against him making the starting XI. Instead he prefers veteran Dinesh Karthik over Lomror in their starting eleven.
Lomror has made two impressive cameo appearances during RCB’s wins against Punjab and Delhi Knight Riders and many fans are outraged that he wasn’t included in their starting XI.
Lomror was used as an impact replacement against LSG after not making the starting XI, and proved his worth with an outstanding 33-ball knock that included three sixes and as many boundaries – providing one bright spot in RCB’s dismal pursuit of 182.
At present, the batting-rich Royal Challengers Bangalore are well on their way towards reaching their 182-run target. Quinton de Kock has already scored 81 runs while vice-captain Nicholas Pooran and spinner Glenn Maxwell have provided extra momentum.
With his bowling, Yash Thakur has successfully reduced RCB’s deficit from 142 runs per over to just 59 in under 13 overs – far higher than their required run rate for victory.
De Kock got off to an impressive start for RCB in this over, smashing Dagar down for maximum. However, Rawat caught him soon afterwards at backward square leg after Siraj delivered.
Mohammed Siraj enters the attack, nearly snagging an edge off de Kock’s bat but for Yash Dayal’s direct hit. Dayal then hit one straight for six over long on, followed by Lomror going for fuller ones which she guided over the keeper for FOUR runs off each.
