Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians have historically battled, yet this time around the tables have turned.
Shubman Gill expresses his delight with his team’s performance and commends his teammates for keeping their composure despite the dew factor. Additionally, he recognizes their bowlers for their efforts.
Arjun Tendulkar

MOHIT SHARMA TO ARJUN TENDULKAR: Sharman delivers this delivery full and on the length outside off. Arjun attempts a sweep across the line but misses and is caught at long on by Joshua Little for 9. MI lose their ninth wicket.
Gujarat’s batsmen have been on fire, amassing an incredible total thus far. Abhinav Manohar has been spectacular, smashing three maximums off only 19 balls! Meanwhile Shubman Gill is also performing well, scoring 38 off 23 balls with four boundaries!
India pacer Mohammed Shami is just one wicket away from becoming the 100th wicket-taker in IPL 2023. A crucial player for Mumbai so far this season, Mohammed will look to increase his total tonight.
Nehal Wadhera
Gujarat Titans secured an easy victory against Mumbai Indians at Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, led by Shubman Gill’s stunning 56 from 34 deliveries and late contributions by David Miller and Abhinav Manohar that helped GT post 207/6 batting first. However, it was the bowlers who really stood out: Rashid Khan (2/27) and Noor Ahmad (3/38) each picked up five wickets as MI suffered an embarrassing defeat.
Out! Chawla Out! A back of a length delivery outside off stump proves too much for Chawla as he misjudged its line and attempted to hit for the bleachers, mishitting instead and giving short fine leg an easy catch. Chawla had played well but left his post quickly as his stay at the crease ended with him walking off in disgust.
Behrendorff bowls another full toss onto Wadhera’s leg stump, sending him straight backwards towards long on in an attempt to hit directly but without success. Wadhera attempts to hit over the covers but his timing fails him and it hits off his pads before Little retrieves it with ease at his second attempt. Wadhera looks dissatisfied.
Nehal Wadhera has been an outstanding performer for GT this season with a superb strike rate of 163 and an average over 40 against Mumbai Indians both in IPL and ODIs. He will hope to keep up his momentum against RCB; their match was an enormous disappointment and they will want to improve on it before their next outing against them – this loss being their inaugural loss in this edition of IPL will undoubtedly sting deeply.
Mohammad Shami
Mohammad Shami has been on an outstanding run this season and is one of the tournament’s deadliest bowlers. His pace and ability to swing both ways make him a terrifying threat for batsmen; his wrist movement is fluid while his run-up gives him added momentum when bowling.
He has been one of the main wicket-taker for Gujarat Titans this season and is supported by an excellent spin bowling attack featuring Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad who can cause chaos during middle overs.
He has also excelled in Test matches and is an integral member of India’s squad. A world-class player, he has shown marked improvement over recent years and boasts excellent athleticism as well as having an enviable work ethic on the pitch.
He has had some difficulty at the plate but overall has performed very well. He was an impressive scorer in previous seasons and can become dangerous if given the chance.
Mumbai Indians had an inauspicious start to their 2018 IPL season, yet hope to recover in their next match against Delhi Daredevils. Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera are all capable of making big scores; these will need to do just that to continue winning streak and stay within top four. Their experienced bowlers must remain disciplined and focused for this task to succeed.
Jason Behrendorff
Australia’s 2016 One-Day World Cup campaign demonstrated his ability as an elite white-ball bowler. His lively bounce and powerful swing can trouble any top-order batsman; he will look to build on this success as he pursues first-class cricket.
Behrendorff made his T20I debut late 2017 against India, taking an impressive 4-21. As a result, his efforts earned him selection in Australia’s ODI squad where he quickly established himself as one of their most effective new-ball bowlers.
Gujarat Titans remain in contention for a top-four finish despite losing four matches over their past month. Led by Shubman Gill’s leadership, they look poised to challenge Mumbai Indians for top honours this season. In both meetings this season between them both teams, each has won both matches, which speaks to their quality rivalry and competition between these sides.
Dew factor will have been a difficult obstacle for both sides to navigate in this match, yet Gujarat Titans bowlers rose to the challenge. Their spinners Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan, who have shown consistent form this season, played an essential part in restricting Mumbai’s top order batting line-up.
Gujarat Titans bowlers were simply exceptional on Sunday. From spinners keeping run rates to an ideal level to Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav’s new ball pair taking regular wickets – including Hardik Pandya who shared in a 77-run third wicket stand with youngster Nehal Wadhera – every bowler played their part to seal victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad last year and give themselves an invaluable edge towards qualifying for quarter-finals this time around. The win gave them much needed morale boost as last year’s heart-break defeat was particularly bitter-tokening after losing to Sunrisers last season – giving them confidence going forward into qualifying for quarter finals qualification this time round!
Joshua Little
Gujarat was more than deserving of their victory after starting slowly this season, while Mumbai fell victim to another tough opponent as their success faded against top teams like Gujarat and Mumbai. Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Shami stood out on behalf of Gujarat, both making great use of swinging the ball with great effect for Gujarat.
The visitors struggled in the middle overs as they consistently lost wickets. Piyush Chawla, Sai Sudharsan and Chris Jordan found it difficult to contain Gujarat’s batsmen as they conceded many runs; Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan ensured the run chase did not become unwieldy by picking up key wickets and keeping it within bounds.
Joshua Little took an exceptional catch, as he caught Wriddhiman Saha off Mohammad Shami’s bowling to remove Wriddhiman Saha off Mohammad Shami’s delivery on a length outside off to remove Tim David and used a googly to trap Abhinav Manohar leg before wicket in subsequent overs. In total he picked up four wickets over this time frame.
He began by striking with his opening delivery, bowling Wriddhiman Saha out. Later, he went back into action and struck again – this time sending back Kumar Kartikeya and Ravindra Jadeja for quick wickets.
Mohit Sharma was another stand-out performer for the visitors as he picked up two wickets and kept run scoring under control. When Riley Meredith attempted a sweep across the line but missed, Sharma bowled a slower delivery outside off and on length with no pace that helped take away Riley Meredith’s momentum as she reviewed decision to challenge for review, only for ball not inside tramline to rule against her challenge for review.
