Punjab Kings completed a straightforward chase despite experiencing some early misfires, assisted by an ineffective Chennai Super Kings bowling line-up and dew factor, but their batters also played their part. Prabhsimran Singh and Rilee Rossouw provided a solid start before Richard Gleeson claimed their wicket, followed by Shashank taking one down to square leg for Shashank’s wicket to bring an end to it all.

CSK vs PBKS Scorecard

PBKS were unable to put together an effective game against a disciplined CSK side. A lack of power in the middle overs and some erratic bowling meant even after Prabhsimran and Rossouw got off to a solid start, they couldn’t produce an adequate total. Shardul got their breakthrough early when he trapped their opener in front of his stumps before Santner delivered two outstanding deliveries that saw both Rossouw and Bairstow caught at square leg by successive deliveries by Santner off successive balls.

Shashank Singh and Sam Curran shared a rapid partnership of 53 before Curran was caught off Richard Gleeson off a wide delivery from Gleeson a couple of overs later. With more than 10 overs still to spare, the visitors had reached their target without much difficulty.

With their victory, CSK have moved up to third in the table while PBKS remain languishing at seventh. Still with two games to go and hoping for some big results from them if they want to reach the playoffs, their next match against KKR in Dharamshala can be caught live here while updates can be found by following us on twitter @Cricket_Spy – Sagar Chawla here is signing off on behalf of Harish and Anurag and saying take care.

Match Summary of CSK and PBKS

After suffering an unexpected loss to Rajasthan Royals in their previous game, defending champions Chennai Super Kings looked to find their groove when they faced Punjab Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Punjab Kings put in an excellent effort against CSK by restricting them to 162 for seven and managing to chase it down easily due to exceptional innings from Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw.

CSK suffered an early blow when captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed in the first over, setting the tone for an unpredictable chase against Punjab spinners. Although Gaikwad hit some hard shots and Uthappa made another impressive innings, CSK struggled to generate runs at will against their hosts’ spinners.

Unfortunately, however, the batting collapse continued as visitors kept picking up wickets regularly to turn the match into an overwhelming one-sided contest. Ravi Chahar and Dwaine Pretorius displayed brilliant spin bowling to control batsmen throughout their innings.

Struggle for the Trophy

Home side struggled to score runs easily and were forced to take risks, eventually falling short of their target and leaving themselves with an impossible task ahead.

CSK lost the toss and were forced to follow on, struggling through an initially difficult period of the game. Deepak Chahar struggled with his hamstring from early on in play before eventually having to leave due to injury in only their very first over. Their batsmen proved valuable by scoring vital runs against their hosts through smart play alone.

Sam Curran produced an unbeaten fifty for CSK to help them complete a decisive win relatively easily. CSK experienced some early scares as they lost two wickets during the powerplay to leave them struggling; however, an outstanding partnership between Shasank Singh and Sam Curran ensured they managed a miraculous comeback and win this matchup – moving CSK up three spots on the points table with eight points from five games played!

Batting Performance

PBKS and CSK have faced off 29 times in the Indian Premier League, with CSK winning 16 matches while PBKS taking 14 victories. Recently however, CSK have seen their dominance reduced significantly as more matches go in favor of them than before.

At their home ground of MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK boasts an excellent record against PBKS, winning eight and only losing three matches since playing their inaugural match against them on May 10, 2008. CSK won an exciting match by 18 runs after batting first; Subramaniam Badrinath and MS Dhoni both contributed with scores to seal victory for CSK.

In subsequent matches between CSK and PBKS, players from both sides have produced some high-scoring thrillers with Suresh Raina leading CSK with 719 runs against Mohali team; Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni have also contributed significantly against them.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Dwayne Bravo have been the standout bowlers for Chennai Super Kings against PBKS, each taking 18 wickets each. Meanwhile, Punjab have their own impressive bowlers such as Mohammed Shami and Kagiso Rabada – two men that CSK can draw inspiration from.

Though PBKS has lost four out of their last five matches, they remain hopeful and determined to break out of their slump. Coming off an impressive win against KKR last time out, they now have the chance to surprise everyone by upstaging defending champions Chennai Super Kings by defeating them. Chepauk will likely provide something for bowlers as this game could turn into a low-scoring affair; nonetheless both teams boast strong batting lineups capable of scoring some big scores; this could turn into an engaging contest!

Bowling Performance

Punjab’s bowling performance on an unsuitable surface for batting has been outstanding. Their spinners successfully limited Chennai run flow and total to an acceptable total. Meanwhile, their batters made short work of reaching their target. PBKS now holds third spot in the points table after four victories against Chennai Super Kings over five matches played so far this season.

CSK suffered an agonizing defeat against Kings XI Punjab at home this season. They can take comfort in having one of the league’s premier bowling attacks at their disposal and in this match saw captain Deepak Chahar make his comeback to action following an injury-induced absence.

He bowled four overs, giving up just 13 runs while taking two wickets and is poised to play a key role in helping Yellow Brigade claim the championship title.

Chahar made an impressionful showing at this venue during their previous meeting as he helped CSK win by six wickets with an outstanding display, and today too he showed why CSK have retained their spot as champions.

He quickly got rid of Bairstow and Rossouw in his opening over, assisted by the slow pitch and his pace partners Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali – but couldn’t stop Rossouw teaming up with Shashank Singh to form a quickfire partnership in the middle overs.

Punjab eventually won an easy victory and have now defeated Chepauk five times in succession, which is second highest among IPL teams.

Shardul Thakur to Sam Curran, four! Short length outside off, Curran waits and clears his front foot before hitting an elegant swing over backward point for four. A great shot!
