Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings Match Scorecard

Rajasthan Royals faced Chennai Super Kings in a match that held great promise. Both teams were in contention for playoff spots and needed just one victory to clinch it. Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bat first, starting well despite early losses of Graeme Smith and Swapnil Asnodkar – only for Jadeja to wreck havoc by taking down Shane Watson and Sanju Samson wickets in quick succession before halfway stage when Jadeja started to pick off wickets of their opponents with ease before eventually reaching target by taking down both players at once!

But in the end, they fell short by seven runs, setting an IPL record score against CSK with 173. Furthermore, Royals lost more wickets than at Sawai Mansingh Stadium which will hinder their playoff hopes.

Even after their disappointing defeat, Royals remain fourth place and still hold one game over Delhi Capitals (at bottom), giving them an opportunity to catch up and become formidable opponents. If their recent form can improve quickly then Royals can become an intimidating opponent once more.

CSK have one match left and are five points back of leaders Kolkata Knight Riders after their defeat by Mumbai Indians on Saturday. These two sides may never meet in an IPL final but that won’t stop them from giving everything they have got into every match they can!

After the match, captain MS Dhoni discussed his team’s performance. He noted that their batsmen performed admirably in the first half but could have scored more had they not lost wickets so easily. Dhoni noted that their focus would be on improving in future matches by playing to their strengths; and that it felt great to win in front of home crowd. Dhoni further thanked Ruturaj Gaikwad for leading them to victory; also commending how they bowled during Powerplay as being particularly exemplary.

Rajasthan Royals 141 for 5

Chennai Super Kings’ outstanding bowling performance led by Simarjeet Singh enabled them to limit Rajasthan Royals to an uninspiring 141 for five on Sunday, thanks to Tushar Deshpande (2/30) and other fast bowlers who helped reduce run rate on a slow pitch. Riyan Parag remained unbeaten with 47 off 35 balls as Riyan Parag anchored their innings as unbeaten captain of Rajasthan Royals innings.

Even with their modest total, RR began confidently and achieved 42 runs within their first two overs before losing wickets regularly due to a slow pitch. It marked their lowest wicketless powerplay this season.

Yuzvendra Chahal made an explosive start, trapping Daryl Mitchell lbw for 22 from 13 overs – before CSK’s openers took control, posting an opening partnership of 77 in just 7.33 overs to push the asking rate well past 100.

At the other end, RR’s pace attack held firm, with Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja both conceding under two runs per over. Unfortunately, they kept losing batsmen regularly as their batting order unraveled.

Simarjeet made his breakthrough in the seventh over when he got rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal by having Ruturaj Gaikwad catch her top edge at fine leg, before later trapping Jos Buttler lbw after mistiming a mistimed shot trying to clear deep fine leg area.

RR had little choice but to play out their remaining overs, and did so successfully. Yet they fell far short of their target with Shubham Dubey and Rovman Powell both falling within quick succession; combined with Dhruv Jurel’s brilliant fielding performance saw RR finish on 131/5 after 19.2 overs.

Chennai Super Kings 184 for 6

Chennai Super Kings have given themselves hope of reaching the playoffs through Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja’s partnership. Chasing 184 runs with six overs remaining, they have made an excellent start and already compiled 50 runs between themselves in partnership.

Ravindra Jadeja was on strike. Lockie Ferguson bowled a fuller length, middle, off-angle delivery which Jadeja hit over the deep midwicket fence for a huge six. CSK now reached 154/6 with 17 needed off the final over with MS Dhoni on strike.

Now in its final over, this game promises an intense conclusion. With Lasith Malinga, J Suchith and Harbhajan Singh all being hit for plenty of runs off spinners like Lasith Malinga, J Suchith and Harbhajan Singh having taken wickets, any further wickets might make all the difference in the end but Dhoni and Jadeja have both been outstanding throughout and will want to keep running chase.

Deshpande is off to a solid start as he only concedes two singles off his opening over. Kohli then attempted to hit one towards square third man but missed it completely; Faf du Plessis then lofted one over backward point for one single off Deshpande’s third delivery and took it for one run off Faf du Plessis’ fourth delivery as well.

Yash Dayal takes charge for the final over, starting off with a no-ball before giving away only singles and then giving one away for four runs on short deliveries to Rahane who cuts it early to speed off to four more fours!

FOUR! Royal Challengers Bangalore lose the review for a wide, before MS Dhoni flicks it to extra covers without reaching it, leading to it going for six and racing to the target easily. They now hold a six-point advantage in the table and a win here would guarantee them a place among the top four. It is a huge result for Chennai Super Kings; having now won three out of their final home games they should go into play-offs in confident mood and could face Mumbai Indians in an important semi-final.

Rajasthan Royals 184 for 7

Simarjeet Singh led Royals’ bowling unit in restricting Chennai Super Kings to an acceptable total of 184 for seven. Tushar Deshpande’s 2-30 was especially impressive. Rookie Sameer Rizvi looked poised to score big when he hit an eight-ball 15 not out with three sixes and one four off eight balls before being bowled off by Nandre Burger during the final over of their innings.

KL Rahul chose to bat first and was quickly dismissed in the fourth over when he edged a Dhawal Kulkarni delivery to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler who took an excellent one-handed catch. Jos Buttler then assumed control of the chase, unleashing boundaries and sixes to help score 64 runs within six overs of powerplay.

Royals struggled in their opening innings but Buttler persevered and reached his maiden IPL century off 69 balls, supported by Sanju Samson who scored an unbeaten half-century off 46 deliveries.

Buttler was dismissed by Ashwin under controversial circumstances in the 13th over with RR on 108 for two. Ashwin’s dismissal will surely raise many questions over its spirit, given that Buttler was clearly not out and did not receive a warning from umpire.

Rajasthan have moved up one spot to second in the IPL table with 16 points and a net run rate of +0.349 after their victory over Punjab Kings on April 9. They now stand in better position than their opponent to qualify for playoffs than when they last faced them, who finished fifth with eight points. It was an important victory for them after losing their previous two matches and will meet up against Punjab Kings again at Guwahati’s ACA Stadium on May 15 at 7.30 PM IST for another contest that can be watched live streaming via Jio TV subscription – subscribe now and get exclusive offers on sports channels as well as premium content!
