The KKR-DC scorecard chronicles momentum swings, pressure moments and power hitting. Additionally, it shows how different batting lineups and conditions impact outcomes.
KKR batsmen Sunil Narine, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh contributed with important runs, keeping Delhi within reach. However, quick wickets slowed them down during middle overs.
Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine of KKR has had an outstanding season so far. His bowling prowess helped them recover after an initial poor start while his bat prowess ensured they outlasted DC and remain competitive for playoff contention. Narine took key wickets of Axar and Faf – including Faf’s injured left hand – as well as teaming with Anukul in helping KKR score over 120 runs in their final over.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Rahmanullah Gurbaz was exceptional during his four-over spell for KKR, picking up two wickets while conceding just a single run over both overs. It was an outstanding team effort as Sunil Narine and Anukul Roy provided great assistance as bowlers; additionally Axar Patel and Faf du Plessis made significant contributions towards Delhi.
Vipraj Nigam comes out to bat for DC looking to score some quick runs quickly. His attempt at smashing it to the off side only creates an healthy leading edge which sends it soaring past his keeper and raised an appeal of LBW from him, however the umpire ruled against this action.
Ajinkya Rahane is back now to talk, and he stresses the significance of their win as they strive to remain in playoff contention. Although their powerplay was initially disappointing, later they came together well enough and restricted KKR to a chaseable total. Rahane also mentions getting cut on his hand after Dre Russ’ delivery and claims that skin peels off after brushing against the pitch during delivery from Dre Russ’.
Sunil Narine of KKR has just joined us now for an informal conversation and expressed his congratulations to his players on their win, praising their outstanding fight in this match and saying it’s important that they fight till the very end. He noted they had lost some close games this season but will keep fighting to win every match possible.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi
Sunil Narine played an instrumental role in helping KKR start off an IPL season on an impressive note, keeping ahead of their net run rate with both bat and ball. But he wasn’t the only one responsible – other members of their squad also demonstrated strong performance throughout.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, an U-19 World Cup sensation who was introduced into the team to add extra depth to their batting, flourished during the first powerplay overs. The tall domestic fast bowler found inswing and mixed it with accurate bouncers, catching Prithvi Shaw off his back foot before Abhishek Porel top-edged one bouncer before smashing three fours and sixes off Rasikh Salam in five overs before adding reverse pull over short third for another six in six overs!
Khaleel Ahmed and Ishant Sharma had both shown plenty of swing in Visakhapatnam, yet here it seemed slower due to Narine’s presence. Still, there was still time for Ishant’s searing yorker in the final over to break Narine out and prevent record 260+ scores – instead giving KKR three wins out of three with an easy victory.
Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh’s bowling proved critical as he collected three wickets including that of Porel to keep Kolkata Knight Riders competitive by restricting Delhi to a modest total. Furthermore, his solid batting alongside Faf saw them move to 9th on the points table – this marks their third straight win at this venue against DC!
